Mikael Lundström
Board member and compliance lead
Background
Mikael has a background as a business leader and has worked with corporate development for many years. A common thread through his work is identifying problems and turning knowledge into concrete solutions.
Alongside his professional life, he is engaged in parenting issues, children's rights and the rule of law. He is an active board member of the Swedish association Föreningen Vårdnad Boende Umgänge (VBU), where he works to strengthen the rights and legal security of children and parents. His experience from working life and from VBU has shaped his view of the importance of objective and reliable decision-making bases.
Why I do this
Mikael's driving force is the conviction that truth matters. To understand what has actually happened or what a document shows, situations need to be reviewed objectively and factually. Facts need to be distinguishable from assumptions, contradictions made visible and conclusions tested against the evidence available. Here he sees a great opportunity in artificial intelligence: helping people review information more systematically, objectively and traceably.
Mani sits close to Mikael's own conviction that facts, objectivity and factual rigour are decisive for understanding what is actually true. He sees great potential in using artificial intelligence to review information more systematically, detect flaws and test conclusions against the evidence available. To him, the technology is a tool that helps people see situations more clearly and make their own decisions on better grounds. It is also an important part of what drives his commitment to Mani: turning principles of objectivity and legal security into solutions that work in practice.
Area of responsibility
Mikael's main area of responsibility within Mani is compliance. He works to ensure that the business is run in line with the regulations and requirements that are relevant, including the EU AI Act, GDPR, the cybersecurity act and issues related to the US Cloud Act. He also works with corporate governance and issues concerning how Mani is organised, governed and followed up. In addition, he is actively involved in corporate development and strategic matters. That includes how Mani develops as a company, which priorities are set, and how the business can grow without compromising the principles, requirements and working methods the company is built on.
Core values
- Integrity – standing by your principles and not letting short-term interests sway what you believe is right.
- Objectivity – seeking what is actually true and letting facts weigh heavier than assumptions, opinions and preconceptions.
- Doing what is right – doing what is right because it is the right thing to do, even when it is harder, more inconvenient or offers no personal advantage.
How he works
Mikael works in a solution-oriented and action-driven way. He analyses to understand the situation and the problem, but quickly moves from analysis to action. To him, it is more important to act, learn and adjust along the way than to get stuck in overanalysis. A decision does not have to be perfect from the start, as long as it can be corrected when new information or experience shows a better path. This also shapes his work at Mani: identifying problems, finding a way forward and making sure things actually get done.
